Sioux Mountain Festival

The 2010 Sioux Mountain is scheduled for Saturday, July 31st and Sunday, August 1st! Music, featuring head liner Big Rude Jake, will take place on the Saturday at the Town Beach. The Cultural Day will follow on the Sunday at the Town Beach as well. Please contact festival coordinator Mike Laverty at 737-1501 or mikelaverty@gmail to sign up or for more information.

Seven teams competed in this year's bannock bake-off. Taking first place were the Wawatay Birthday Bashers, taking second place were the Shibogama Loonie Bannock Bakers and in third place were the Sioux Lookout First Nations Health Authority King of Bannock Pop team.

National Day of Action

 

The Nishnawbe-Gamik Friendship Centre and the Sioux Lookout Anti-Racism Committee hosted the National Day of Action May 29. The National Day of Action explains to Canadians the situation of First Nations in Canada and the solutions to creating a stronger Canada for all Canadians. First Nations are calling on the Government of Canada to work with them to protect their children, invest in the future, and respect one another.
